Lazy Elephant Stops Traffic By Taking A Nap In The Middle Of The Road

This is the incredible moment when an elephant takes a nap across the street causing a traffic jam

The stubborn beast in Nakhon Ratchasima, northern Thailand, delayed Nattawat Patsungsing for work by laying still for around 20 minutes.

In order to avoid causing the majestic Indian elephant to charge, Mr. Patsungsing, who was filming the animal from his automobile, had to halt from a distance and remain silent.

You can see the animal’s legs and ears fluttering as it sleepily moves in and out of a deep slumber.

Finally, the elephant raises its trunk and stands on its hind legs.

You can hear him saying in the video: “Oh boy…you’re taking the entire road. Can you please move, little boy? I really have to go to work.”

Once the elephant named Nga-Thong stands up, it keeps its eye on Mr. Patsungsing as he carefully reverses away.

Officials say that the elephant is often found lying on the concrete for warmth in the colder seasons.

According to the driver, wildlife officials in the region informed him that the elephant was called Nga-Thong, which translates to “golden ivory” in Thai.

“Nga-Thong doesn’t like to reveal himself when the road is busy with cars and loud buses, so most of the time it’s national park officers who see him. They said he’s very shy.”

“I was waiting about twenty minutes until he finally got up. I was late for my shift at work that day but I was happy to see him so close.”

Just like an ordinary house cat, but with a slight difference, right?

Today, only one species of the genus caracal lives and they aren’t listed as threatened.

Their extraordinary ears have over 20 muscles each, that all swivel around like a satellite dish in order to detect the sounds of their prey.

The tufts may help in enhancing sound going int. Or it can also be used to communicate with other caracals via twitches and other movements.

Often referred to as the desert lynx, the Caracal does not actually possess the same physical attributes of other members of the lynx family, such as the characteristic ruff of hair around the face.

Instead, it has a short, dense coat, usually, a uniform tawny-brown to brick-red.

It is the largest member of Africa’s small cats and is definitely the most feared.

Males weigh in at as much as 40 pounds, and females as much as 35.

They stand between 16-20 inches at the shoulder, and are 35-39 inches long.

Caracals prefer to live in the drier savannah and woodland regions of sub-Saharan Africa, and prefer the more scrubby, arid habitats.

They have been known to also inhabit evergreen and montane forests, but are not found in tropical rain forests.

After a gestation period of around 78-81 days, females tend to produce a litter of 1-4 kittens, with 2 being the average.

Kittens open their eyes on their first day of life, but it takes 6-10 days for them to be completely open.

They attain sexual maturity between 12-16 months. In captivity, Caracals have lived up to 19 years.

Caracals have a wide variety of prey, with the most common being rodents, hares, hyraxes, and small antelope.

Unlike most other small African cats, Caracals will not hesitate to kill prey larger than themselves, such as adult springbok or young Kudu.

Puma Rescued From A Zoo Can’t Be Released Into The Wild, Lives As A Spoiled House Cat

Would you believe if someone said that a puma is living in a home with humans? Well, you would mostly say such a thing cannot happen.

Pumas are carnivores who are not likely to be lived with humans and it would be a danger for human lives.

But Messi, the 90lb puma would be an exception to this notion as he is already living with Mariya and Aleksandr Dmitriev in Russia. The couple met Messi at the Saransk zoon in Penza, Russia and at that time Messi was just 8 years old. He was really cute for his age and the couple decided to have him on their lives.

Messi had two brothers who were also born along with him and they were named after famous Soccer players to celebrate the Russian city hosting four of the matching from the world cup. So, three of them were named as Messi, Suarez, and Neymar and Messi were sold to the zoo when he was just 3 months old.

He was sick from very young days and the zoo was not able to look after him. It was then the couple decided to have Messi and speaking of Aleksandr’s wish to have Messi, Mariya says the Mirror that,

“He always thought about having a lynx- never a puma. It’s hard to explain but we believe that having this puma is part of our destiny”.

“We had three days of thinking hard about whether it was moral to keep a puma, and whether it was common sense to have one. But nothing could fight our sudden wish.

So we went to the zoo and started to negotiate to buy Messi. We were surprised ourselves when the agreed”.

However, it was really challenging for the couple to take care of this giant puma. He was wild by nature and he was quite weak which needed a lot of attention.

However, even after being recovered Messi grew only up to two-thirds of the size of the average puma which was still a huge size when comparing with other pets.

Mariya and Aleksandr bought a special harness and a coat to take him on walks and in an interview with RT, Aleksandr said,

“He is like a dog. We started taking him for a walk, step by step. The animal hadn’t been really active before. Now we walk a lot twice a day, as it’s supposed to be. It doesn’t differ much from owning a dog in this sense”.

The couple could find a dog training school that allowed Messi to join and now Messi can respond to about 10 commands.

Aleksandr says, “He convinced us with his behavior that he is a full member of our family and that he wouldn’t be doing anything bad apart from some small naughty things. He is very kind and likes contact. He gets along well with people”.

Aleksandr has begun to document their lives with Puma and people are completely in love with those posts. In their Instagram page @I_am_puma they have over 500k followers and in their YouTube channel, they have over 175k subscribers.

The couple has tried their best to give a comfortable environment to Messi and they have even turned their hallways into Messi’s den with a tree, hiding hole and bamboo wall.

Aleksandr says, “He is just an ordinary cat, but a big one. He has all the habits of a cat”.

However, there have been many objections from environmental rights activists about the couple keeping the puma who points in the dangers that Messi can cause as well as his right to live in wild.

But, the couple believes that Messi would rather like to live with them than in the wild and they think that he would not survive in wild. Mariya told the Mirror,

“Of course it’s quite dangerous having such a large cat at home, but Messi is a special animal”.

So, let us know your thoughts about their story.

Disabled Man Finally Reunites With Service Dog After Woman Refused To Give Him Back

David Guindon, a resident of San Bernardino, California suffered a heart attack and stroke six years ago, which left him disabled, bound to a wheelchair, and in need of a service animal.

In 2014, he adopted and bonded with Zeus, a Husky who was professionally trained to handle tasks David needed assistance with.

Two years ago, a nurse working in David’s home left a door unlocked, and Zeus wandered out of the house. David hadn’t seen his dog since then but had been searching frantically, leaving flyers and even hiring a pet detective to track down his missing dog. He has since adopted and begun training a new dog, Zero, to help him, but he hadn’t given up hope of finding Zeus.
A year and a half after Zeus’ disappearance, David received a call from Home Again, the company with whom Zeus’ microchip was registered. David was overjoyed to hear that his dog had been found, but unfortunately, that did not mean that he was coming home. Home Again explained that a woman wanted to re-register the microchip in her name, and they were asking David for his permission to allow it. David refused and explained that his dog had not been surrendered, he had been lost and he wanted him back.

See the original story from ABC7 here:

A woman had found Zeus and refused to return him to David although the microchip had his information and the company wouldn’t re-register it. She explained that the Husky had bonded with her autistic child and she absolutely would not give him up. Home Again was unable to give David the woman’s information to get in contact with her. Eager to see his dog again, David contacted local animal control for help, but they didn’t have any information on either Zeus or the woman, as Zeus had never been in their care.

David then contacted his local law enforcement and filed a police report, but when they visited the woman’s home, she told them that Zeus had run away.

David spoke with KABC News in San Bernardino, and his story quickly went viral as people became outraged that someone could be so heartless as to refuse to return a disabled man’s beloved service dog. But the day that the interview with David was shared with the public, he got another call, this time from a police officer saying that the woman who had Zeus had a change of heart, and surrendered him to local animal control.

Today, the two were finally reunited! Zeus can return home with David, and meet his new brother, Zero.

Zeus and David look happy to see each other again! It’s the happiest ending this sad story could’ve had.

This Bird Looks Like A Fluffy Little Dragon

If you are a fan of fantasy movies, then there must have been so many times when you wished that the mystical animals in them actually existed in real life.

Now wouldn’t that have been awesome? Luckily for us, the great eared nightjars appear to be creatures that came right out of a fantasy movie and they are very much real.

The great eared nightjar is a bird found in the tropical forests of Southeast Asia. These birds are nocturnal and roam through the forest using the darkness as a cover. One thing that makes them unique is the fact that they prepare their nests on the forest floor, allowing their babies to be well-camouflaged due to all the dried leaves. When focusing on their appearance, these birds are dissimilar to other birds.

Homeless man pushing cart full of dogs receives unexpected help that changes his life

Alicia Edrington saw an elderly man on the road as she was headed home to Arkansas. The man was riding a bike with a cartful of dogs and he was obviously exhausted.

Alicia knew she couldn’t just drive by so she stopped and thought of a way to help him.

Source: YouTube
The man named Steve had been homeless since 2001. He could barely spend for his necessities, but he would adopt stray dogs every time he came across one.

In the 14 years he’s been living on the street, Steve says he must have helped around 50 dogs, even finding a home for a few of them.

And Steve doesn’t ask for anything in return.

Steve left California for Indiana so he could meet his girlfriend, Volena. Most people would have left their dogs with a loved one or a shelter, but not Steve.

He took all 10 dogs with him on the journey. The dogs are his family and leaving them wasn’t an option.

When Alicia saw Steve and his dogs, he had been biking for about 2,000 miles. The plan was to camp out somewhere for the night before setting off the next day.

Alicia knew Steve needed help. So she called some people with the intention of figuring out how to help him.
Source: YouTube

Alicia’s father, Mickey Edrington, set up a GoFundMe page, hoping that they could make enough to allow Steve and his dogs to stay in a hotel.

The money came in and soon Alicia, local rescuers, and several volunteers were able to help Steve and his dogs. Now they had to figure out how to get him to Indiana.

That’s when Kelley Seaton from Tennesee offered to drive Steve and his dogs to Indiana.

The GoFundMe page collected $35,596, way beyond the $10,000 goal. A generous donor even gave Steve a trailer. now Steve and his dogs have a real home!

“If it wasn’t for every single one of you this man might still be pedaling down the road not knowing what hardship he might hit next,” Alicia wrote to all the supporters.
Source: YouTube

Steve also met Angela. She runs an organization that helps homeless people and their animals. Angela now works with Steve, helping him whenever he needs her.

Mickey shared that a few people disagreed with their approach.

According to them, Steve should have surrendered the dogs. But he disagrees.

“Rescues are already overwhelmed everywhere. Removing these animals from their guardian, a guardian who obviously loves them more than anything and who is willing to give up things for himself in order for them to have what they need, would not only negatively affect them but this man as well. He is their whole life and they are his. Not every situation in ‘rescue’ warrants the automatic removal of the animals,” he wrote.

This story happened back in 2015.

There’s no current information on Steve and his dogs but it’s safe to say that they’re doing well and are in a much better place in life, thanks to a few good souls.

Alicia, her father, and all the other volunteers and donors helped make this man’s life better.

Let’s hope Steve and his dogs continue to live good lives!

The Beauty Of The Fluffy White Maine Coon Kefir

Maine Coons are recognized as a domesticated cat breed. This breed originated in the state of Maine in the USA and is considered one of the oldest natural breeds in North America.

They are large cats that are very sociable, playful, intelligent, and gentle in personality.

Some of its features include a rectangular body shape, a long bushy tail, ruff along its chest, robust bone structure, and an uneven two-layered coat. The Maine Coon sometimes displays dog-like characteristics and possesses valuable hunting skills. Their unique physical appearance allows them to survive in harsh winter climates.

Maine Coons, also known as “gentle giants”, can be easily trained. They are well recognized for their loyalty towards their family. These cats were labeled as the largest breed of domestic cats, but this title was taken away with the introduction of Savannah cats.

Today we bring to you the story of Kefir, the enormous white-colored Maine Coon cat living with his human mother Yuliya Minina in Stary Oskol, Russia. Yuliya bought the Maine Coon two years ago and his birthday is the 3rd of March. This gigantic cat weighs around 26.5 pounds for now and is expected to grow more until he is 3-years-old.

Many people mistake Kefir to be a dog because of his large size. He is not just big in size but is also a very smart Maine Coon because he understands some of Yuliya’s commands. Kefir hates dry cat food and prefers to eat meat and natural feed. Despite his size, he is a very gentle soul.

This Maine Coon loves to enjoy his dinner sitting at the common table and considers himself to be a member of the family. Kefir is now an Instagram celebrity with thousands of followers. People from around the world are in love with this adorable giant ball of fur and enjoy his entertaining photographs very much. One look at his photographs is enough to convince you of how talented this cat is at posing.

A Pair Of Enormous Sea Lions Borrow Someone’s Boat, Then Sink It

Everyone loves a day out on the water, especially these two sea lions who were seen highjacking a yacht.

Pair Of Enormous Sea Lions Borrow Someone's Boat - The Dodo
The huge mammals were spotted riding onboard a boat off the coast of Washington by Joshua Phillips who was riding aboard a neighboring boat.

It looks like the huge aquatic mammals decided to borrow somebody’s boat to rest their flippers after a swim. The only problem is the boat wasn’t designed to hold such large travelers.

Joshua was in awe and disbelief at the sight he was seeing, and thankfully for us, captured the whole thing on video:

It is still unsure who owned the boat, but we do know that they’re in for a shock when they come back and see their boat missing.

If it wasn’t for this video, I’m sure it would be hard to believe this is real!
